I really hate seeing any variation of this.
I understand the joke that you’re trying to get at, but really it’s just insulting as a woman who really dislikes the Twilight franchise and really likes ponies.
I’m not even going to bother to write out the reasons I find this insulting, I’m just going to mention that next time you complain about “why aren’t their more girls in this fandom” you should remember posts like this. Good day to you sir.

You know, you’re right. Even though it was intended as a joke, it was sexist and uncalled for. And I apologize for it.

And on this day, the MLP fandom was good.

Needs more shit-flipping and blatant, unsupported arguments about how fuck you you’re wrong.

It’s a joke people.  Learn to ignore things you don’t like.  It will save you some stress.

People ignoring this sort of thing is one of the biggest problems with the world today. It’s phenomenal how people of both genders have embraced Friendship is Magic, but that good is undone when people define it as a “show for men.” This picture effectively says that the good cartoon series is for men, and the crappy movie franchise is for women, once again realigning reality so that women get the short end of the stick, and THAT’S. NOT. COOL. And it should not be ignored. It’s hard to bury something if you’re ignoring it.

It will go away on it’s own if people stop getting offended at it and simply take it as what it is. A joke. It’s that simple.  If you stop getting offended, it is no longer offensive.  Let’s take ‘your mom’ jokes.  If you say to me, “I fucked your mom” I will simply laugh at your attempt to offend.  If you treat everything like that, nothing will offend you, and you wont have to cry over every perceived slight against you.

“Sit back and take it and maybe they’ll eventually stop” isn’t a viable strategy because it won’t stop; people who make this sort of joke need to be reeducated that this is not funny. New generations need to be educated that this is not funny. And that won’t happen unless we set an example, unless we stand up, every time, and say as one that this is bad and you really should feel bad.
